It's kinda late, but I made a commitment to write something every day, and in so doing, I hope to find my niche.  I hope to discover my writing style, my genre, and maybe even figure out what the purpose of my passion for writing is.

I was actually quite relieved that I needed not drive through to Pretoria this evening.  Isak said that they have the measles, so if I haven't had it yet, it would be unwise for me to come.  Instead we spoke on the phone, which served me far better.  I could speak to him about what was on my heart.  My mom.  And he listened and let me explain myself, and I felt better afterwards.

When I called my mom, we actually had a nice conversation, and she mentioned some adventurous things she wanted to do, like micro-lighting, balloon-riding and foofi sliding.  Wow! Where is this courage coming from?  Anyway, I think it's really cool.

Since going through to the missionaries' place was no longer taking place, I decided to visit my cell group.  We watched a DVD of the Willowcreek Leadership Summit which took place in Johannesburg, South Africa a few months back.  Preacher Carey gave a convicting message about creating the context in which the scriptures become valid and practically applicable.  He usually preaches only 15 minutes on a Sunday morning and then surprises his congregation with some task.  His responsibility is to equip them, he said.  And then he gave the example how 100 people set up tents as though going to the bush, only they were in suburbia, and they played Kumbaya on acoustic guitar, and this act of camping out in front of drug dealers' homes prevented people from buying drugs there for fear of being seen, and thus they managed to clear out many drug dealers' homes.  A wonderful example of God's work done through his people.

A further analogy he made was about how we huddle like football players, but what is needed is to break up and play the game.  Huddling at church on Sundays, at cell groups, at meetings, or summits, is merely the preparation for the actual work of God.  It was very inspiring, and with inspiration comes action.
